Subject: This IUA technical masterclass will consider the fundamental features of policy wordings and the absolute need for contract clarity.

How should I draft an insuring clause? What is a condition precedent, how does it compare to a warranty and what if the insured breaches one? Why does insurable interest matter?
This IUA policy wordings masterclass will consider key introductory questions and concepts related to the fundamentals of insurance contracts, which are the cornerstone of the insurance process. Our expert wordings practitioners will explain how an effective insurance process is underpinned by a clear and comprehensive policy wording that meets the needs of parties to the contract and is well understood by those parties.
This event is aimed predominantly at junior practitioners and will benefit underwriting, claims, broking and service provider representatives.
With reference to real wordings examples addressing key coverage concepts, attendees will have the opportunity to engage in discussion and debate and hear from insurance wordings practitioners on:
• Formation and requirements of a contract
• Insurable interest, the indemnity principle and the duty of utmost good faith
• Insuring clauses, exclusions and causation
• Principles of policy construction
• Conditions, conditions precedent, warranties and consequences of breaches
