The London Engineering Group (LEG) is a group for insurers of engineering class risks that provides a forum for technical discussion and education. Membership is drawn from the various insurance and re-insurance companies plus Lloyd’s syndicates who are actively involved in underwriting risks within the engineering classes. The group produces various industry recognised papers, coverage clauses and guidance notes, and provides training for its members plus junior and developing staff through various presentations. LEG became an affiliated group of the IUA on July 1 2026.
Within LEG, there are multiple subgroups including the Contractors All Risk (CAR) Subgroup, Erections All Risks (EAR) Subgroup, International Civil Engineering Insurers' Group (ICEIG), and the LEG Academy. CAR, EAR and ICEIG all convene on a bi-monthly basis, and the LEG Academy produces a series of presentations and workshops throughout the year for NextGen practitioners in the market.
LEG also hosts an annual conference for the market. Details about the 2026 conference, which is due to take place in October, will be made available in due course.
