Recently, the IUA hosted a joint webinar with the Singapore College of Insurance to examine emerging global risks. The event showed how such challenges are no longer creeping in from the edges, but arriving in waves of geopolitical unrest, climate extremes, artificial intelligence-driven disruption and litigation trends that outpace regulation.
The IUA's Chief Executive Chris Jones and Director of Underwriting Tom Hughes, discussed how emerging risks are impacting insurers and how the London company market is responding. Observations and conclusions presented in the webinar have now been collated in an IUA white paper 'Insuring the Intangible' that is available via the above download link.
The document considers eight emerging risks, divided into three categories: risks with uncertain impacts, risk in complex, interconnected systems and risks resulting from changes in context.
An abridged version of this paper has also been published by Emerging Risks here.
