Following the recent IUA virtual Market Briefing of 25 January 2021
(recording here – password: 8Rtu356A), we are very pleased to confirm the details of a follow-up session with Simon Cooper of Ince.
This session, structured in a Q&A format,
will answer questions posed by IUA members regarding the landmark judgment of the Supreme Court and its implications for insurers, reinsurers and brokers.

Based on the outstanding questions following our recent event, the following key topics will be addressed:

- The interrelationship between proximate cause, the ‘but for’ test and concurrent causation
- The impact of the ruling on insurance brokers
- Expectations of the FCA and the potential for Damages for Late Payment of Claims
- The risk of contagion – the impact of the ruling overseas
has 35 years’ experience advising insurers and reinsurers in the London and overseas markets. His practice has encompassed most classes of business including property/BI, professional indemnity, cyber and reinsurance of all kinds. Simon has been involved in a number of landmark cases during his practice. He advises widely on the development of new products and has been instructed in relation to a number of recent modernisation projects in the London market. Simon is a member of the IUA Clauses Committee.
