Legal and Regulatory
The IUA’s Legal and Regulatory Committee monitors legal, regulatory, international trade, accounting and taxation issues affecting the London Market. It advises the IUA Board on such matters and is responsible for representing the interests of IUA member companies to relevant supervisory and governmental bodies. The Legal and Regulatory Committee participates in the British Insurers’ European Committee and other UK and London Market bodies studying regulatory developments. Various sub committees are appointed by the Legal and Regulatory Committee to deal with particular topics:
The
Accounts, Taxation and Solvency Sub-Committee is involved with Solvency II, taxation matters and International Financial Reporting Standards.
The
Compliance Sub-Committee is involved with the direct supervision of IUA member companies by the Financial Services Authority.
The
Americas Sub-Committee is involved with legislation and regulations affecting IUA member companies writing business originating the in the United States and Canada.
