Scott began his career as a journalist, working on regional newspapers in south London and Norfolk and obtaining an NCTJ National Certificate in Newspaper Journalism. He then joined the editorial staff of Insurance Day as a Senior Reporter before becoming Press and Communications Manager at the online reinsurance trading platform Inreon. Scott joined the IUA in July 2003.
