Guidance on the Insurance Act 2015

The IUA and LMA published joint guidance on the Insurance Act 2015. The main guide is a comprehensive analysis of the Act, which has been prepared by Harry Wright of barristers' chambers 7 King's Bench Walk, in association with the law firms Clyde & Co, Cooley LLP and Ince & Co and with input from IUA and LMA member firms. It can be accessed via the first download link below. The second link is a shorter 'Quick Reference Guide' to the key provisions of the Insurance Act 2015.

Also available, for background reference, are a copy of the Insurance Act itself, accompanying exlanatory notes to the Act, the Law Commission Paper No 353 (Insurance Contract Law: Business Disclosure, Warranties, Insurers’ Remedies for Fraudulent Claims and Late Payment, July 2014) and guidance published by BIBA and AIRMIC.

Updated editions of the guidance was published in October 2016 to include the late payment of insurance claims provisions enacted as part of the Enterprise Act 2016.
